High performance coaching and personal development
In his early years David developed a love of team sports and represented South West England at football and had trials with various professional clubs. This provided valuable experience in being coached to perform at a high level as an individual and team member. During this time his father attended a Dale Carnegie course and lent him copies of ‘How to win friends and influence people’ and ‘Don’t grow old, grow up’. This ignited his interest in human relationships, teamwork, potential and growth.
Successful brand consulting and performance coaching in the workplace
This passion grew through the successful attainment of various sports coaching qualifications and continued success as a semi-professional footballer where David was involved in winning both league and cup medals.
It was whilst working at a FTSE 100 Financial Services company that David first came across the benefits of performance coaching when attending a course by Sir John Whitmore. Inspired, he put this to good use through coaching teams as part of a large and successful change management programme. Building on his success a coaching style was adopted in the performance management of his own team whose work was commended at industry awards. This performance management was recognised, by the HR department, as best practice.
With over 13 years working in FTSE 100 companies David gained valuable experience and expertise in brand and marketing, delivering campaigns that were commended at industry awards and playing a key team role re-branding Friends Provident to Friends Life. More recently David has worked with Aviva on their brand and with SMEs.
Fitness and challenging pursuits
His personal interest in keeping fit and challenging himself to improve have seen him climb 2 mountains, complete 2 marathons, sky dive from 13,000 feet, cycle the circumference of Dorset and more recently delve into the world of triathlon, raising over £10,000 for charity along the way. Whilst no longer playing himself, during the 2012-2013 football season he coached his youngest son’s team to league winning success.
Improve on wellbeing for greater success
In 2012, at the same time he was developing his interest in wellbeing an opportunity arose to set up his business, Improveon. Wellbeing sits at the heart of his business proposition bringing together meaning, achievement, relationships, resilience and positive emotions, that have been so prevalent and important in his life to date. With a growing awareness of the benefits of wellbeing at a global level his aim now is to help improve brand, team and personal performance through this focused approach.
David is a happily married man of over 15 years and has 2 wonderful boys of whom he is extremely proud. People describe him as professional, challenging, organised, confident, positive and enthusiastic.
